Wrinkles, thin lips and a loss of volume in the face are common problems as people age. These issues are caused by a loss of fat, tissue, and bone under our skin, as well as a loss of elasticity. Injectable dermal fillers are a quick and effective way to restore this loss and rejuvenate the aging face. These injections help to fill in the problem areas, lifting and plumping, thereby reducing wrinkles, fold, and lines.
Injectables and fillers are made to target different areas of the face. While fillers are considered to be a temporary treatment, many are reported to last for up to a year or more. Your dermatologist will discuss with you the best options available to help you achieve your desired result. The procedure itself is relatively pain-free and is minimally invasive. At our office, we offer the full line of Juvederm dermal fillers, along with injectables and fillers from the Restylane, Radiesse, and Sculptra product lines.
Juvederm Ultra + Ultra Plus
Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus are two hyaluronic acid fillers in the Juvederm collection of fillers. They can be used to plump the lips, cheeks, temples, and improve nasolabial or smile lines. This product can last anywhere between 6-12 months, depending on the location.
Voluma is a highly effective filler for lifting and contouring of the cheek, as well as other areas of the face. It is also a part of the Juvederm family of fillers and can last up to 2 years.
Juvederm Volbella is the latest injectable filler in the Juvederm collection. Its smooth consistency makes it a great option for a subtle and natural enhancement of the lips. It is also effective at smoothing perioral or “smoker’s” lines. This treatment lasts for approximately one year.
Restylane offers a full line of injectable fillers. Their products include Restylane, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Silk, and two newer products called Restylane Defyne and Restylane Refyne. These are all reversible hyaluronic acid fillers with different properties and consistencies. Your dermatologist will decide which product is best for the job at hand. Patients report that treatments last between six and 18 months, depending on the product used and the area treated.
Unlike the Juvederm and Restylane collection of hyaluronic acid fillers, Radiesse is composed calcium hydroxylapatite particles, similar to the composition of bone. It is used to treat moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. Radiesse is currently the only dermal filler on the market that is approved for use on both the face and hands.
Sculptra is a volumizing filler that consists of a biodegradable material commonly found in synthetic dissolvable sutures. It is suspended in sterile water and injected into the skin to stimulate your body’s own production of collagen, which improves folds, wrinkles, and a sunken or hollow appearance. Patients may need multiple treatments depending on the level of fat loss. Results appear gradually over the course of months making it a suitable option for those wanting a less conspicuous treatment.
